New Delhi: After its humiliating defeat at the hands of AAP in Delhi polls, BJP today admitted that it is a "big setback" and the party will soon introspect the reasons behind the dismal showing.
The party also said that Delhi's loss is a "collective failure" of the party and the defeat cannot be thrown on any single individual, seen as an attempt to deflect any blame on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"It is a big setback for us. We will assess the reasons of the defeat. We accept the verdict of the people and hope Kejriwal fulfils his promises made to people. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, the Centre will extend all its help to Delhi government," BJP Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said.
Party general secretary P Murlidhar Rao said, "BJP's defeat in Delhi elections is a collective failure of our party. It cannot be thrown on any single individual. We all own the loss."
Complimenting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its thumping victory in Delhi Assembly elections, the industry today said the decisive mandate provides a great opportunity for the new government to take the state to the next level of development.
Exactly an year after he had resigned as Delhi Chief Minister, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal will be taking oath as the CM again on February 14 at Ramlila Maidan.
“Arvind Kejriwal will take oath as the Delhi Chief Minister on February 14 at Ramlila Maidan,” AAP leader Ashutosh said after the party’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly polls.
Mr. Kejriwal emerged victorious in the high-profile New Delhi constituency by handing over a crushing defeat to BJP’s Nupur Sharma by a huge margin of 31,583 votes.
After AAP had thrown a surprise by uprooting Congress out of power in 2013 Assembly elections as a debutant party, Mr. Kejriwal had taken oath as Delhi’s seventh Chief Minister on December 28 at a public ceremony in the historic Ramlila Maidan, the venue of the Lokpal movement.
