IPL scam: Mudgal panel submits report to Supreme Court
i) The Supreme Court has allowed Justice Mukul Mudgal panel probing the betting and spot fixing scandals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to submit its final report on the role of N. Srinivasan andothers in the scam, in a sealed cover on Monday.
ii)Senior advocate Raju Ramachandran, on behalf of the Mudgal Committee, while seeking permission to submit the report, said the report contains the final findings and probe has been completed in the stipulated time of two months.
Wagah blast: High alert on Indo-Pak border, 20 suspects arrested
i) Border Security Force (BSF) chief DK Pathak said Monday the BSF had received some inputs a fortnight ago that terror groups may try to carry out a possible strike during the beating retreat ceremony, hosted by border guarding forces of both nations.ii) A home ministry official too said there were alarms about a possible strike."India's external intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing, had got intelligence inputs some 15 days back indicating that the flag-lowering might be targeted by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan," he said on condition of anonymity.iii) Every day before sunset, soldiers from Pakistan and India gather at Wagah, the only road border crossing between Amritsar and Lahore, to simultaneously lower the two nations' flags.iv) Twenty people have been arrested over Sunday's bombing  which took place 500 metres from the border on the Pakistani side  at 6.12pm. Ten women, eight children and three security personnel were among the 61 dead.

GK Vasan quits Congress, to float new party in Tamil Nadu
i) the struggling Congress, senior leader and former Union minister G.K. Vasan on Monday quit the party and announced his decision to float a new outfit in Tamil Nadu.ii) We are starting a new party. The name of the new party and its symbol would be announced soon at a rally to be held in Tiruchi shortly, he said. Vasan said the approach of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in Tamil Nadu was not satisfactory in achieving its goal which prompted him to resign from the party.

"Kiss of Love" FB page, accounts hacked
i) The organisers of the controversial ’Kiss of Love’ event against moral policing claimed on Monday that their Facebook page and accounts of at least five persons linked with it have been hacked.ii) They alleged that some persons had come with weapons to the venue of Sunday's protest to attack them. They also suspected that those with links to terror organisation were behind the hacking incidentiii) One of the main organisers of the event, Rahul Pasupalan, saidthat they had filed a complaint with Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala seeking action against those behind the hacking.iv) The much-hyped ‘Kiss of Love’ protest on Sunday failed to take off as police detained at least 30 organisers and sympathisers, including women, even before they could reach the venue of the symbolic protest against moral policing. They were later let off at night.

Now a film on hockey player Sandeep Singh
i) After the success of Mary Kom, former India hockey captain Sandeep Singh is the latest sportsperson on whom a biopic has been planned and the ace drag-flicker wants Ranbir Kapoor to portray his role in the movie.Actress Chitrangada Singh is set to turn producer with this planned film.
ii) Sandeep made headlines when he made a successful return to the hockey field after being hit by a bullet in a freak incident. He was seriously injured after being hit by an accidental gunshot in Shatabadi Express in August 2006 while he was on his way to join the national team due to leave for the World Cup in Germany two days later.
iii) Sandeep was almost paralysed and on wheel chair for two years. He not only recovered from the serious injury, but also made a stunning comeback and established himself in the Indian team.

Actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar passes away
i) Veteran actor and social activist Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who was being treated in a hospital in Mumbai over the past few weeks for lung infection, passed away on early Monday morning. He was 64.
ii) Amrapurkar made his mark as an actor and director in Marathi theatre and was best known to the national audience for his roles in movies like 'Ardha Satya', 'Sadak', 'Ishq'. His negative characters in number of Hindi movies also made a mark on the viewers.
iii) Amrapurkar won Filmfare award for Best Supporting Actor for this role. Nine years later, he won yet another Filmfare award for Best Negative Role for 'Sadak'.  He was last seen in a cameo in 2013 film 'Bombay Talkies'.

I-T Dept. tracks 532 HSBC account holders
i) The Income-Tax Department has tracked down 532 account holders in HSBC Geneva, details of which were shared by the French government in 2011, and initiated concealment penalty proceedings in several cases.
ii) Of the total of 628 accounts, investigations revealed that 412 belonged to those who did not enjoy Non-Resident Indian (NRI) status, as they had stayed in India beyond 180 days for three successive years, during the relevant period. In such cases, the Department has decided to complete appropriate action within a month, “without exception.”
